How to Change Security in Windows Vista/7/8/10 to Allow Access from a Different Logon
If you need to have access to any of ALMSys, Inc.'s shareware products from a different user logon under Windows Vista/7/8, then you must perform the instructions listed on this page. If you are running Windows XP, then you do NOT need to do this.
Registry Changes
- Click the Windows Start button and type in regedit and click the search button. Click on it to run it.
- Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Expand SOFTWARE
- Right click on ALMSysInc and select Permissions.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Click on Users in the "Permission entries:" box and then click the Edit button.
- Click the Allow box for "Full Control" in the Permissions box.
- Click Ok.
- Click Apply.
- Click "Replace all child object permissions...."
- Click Apply and then click Yes to the Windows Security pop-up window.
- Click Ok.
- Click Ok.
- Close the registry.
C: Drive Security Changes
- Click Start and then Computer.
- Open the C: drive.
- Open the ProgramData folder. (Caution -- hidden folder)
- Right click on the ALMSysInc folder and select Properties.
- Go to the Security tab and click on the Edit button.
- Select Users in the list and then check the Allow box on the "Full Control" line.
- Click Apply.
- Click Ok.
- Click Ok.
- Close out of the Computer window.
Your ALMSys, Inc. sharware application should now work for all other users on that PC. (If the user is already logged in, you may need them to log out and then back in for the security changes to take affect.)
