Sort Override Page

Layout / How To
Once a report is in the print queue, you may override the sort order for the report (as long as the sort field that you choose appears on the report). An important note is that the Override Sort Order that you choose does not need to be established until you are ready to view the report. In other words, you can run a report once, and then view it in different sort orders without rerunning the report! Simply change the Override Sort Order and view the report again.

You cannot override a major sort/break for a report. In other words, the report will still break and subtotal in the same manner. The sort override that you specify will occur within the lowest break.

To override the sort order, click once on the desired field in the Fields To Choose box. Then, press the Hand button that points to the right. For example, to sort a report by vehicle make, model, and year, follow these steps.

1. Click on Make in the Fields To Choose box.

2. Click on the Hand button that points to the right.

3. Click on Model in the Fields To Choose box.

4. Click on the Hand button that points to the right.

5. Click on Year in the Fields To Choose box.

6. Click on the Hand button that points to the right.

Now, when you view a report that contains these three fields, it will be sorted by make, model, and year.

To resort this report by year, make, and model, simply click on Year in the Override Sort Order box, and then click two times on the Hand button that points up. This will move Year to the top of the sort order.

Use the Hand button that points to the left to remove a field from the Override Sort Order box.
